Records show McStay purchased the property for $1.37m in 2021.

The AFL player said he was drawn to the abode’s character, solid foundations and “incredible potential”.

“Its location is second to none, and is set in a fantastic family-friendly neighbourhood,” he added.

McStay he had initially intended to renovate the house and create a “forever home” along with his partner Kellie.

“We lived there for a year, but our circumstances changed when work took us to Melbourne,” he said.

“We are selling this property as we want to cement our life in Melbourne and potentially buy down there.

“It is a great home and would suit a young family that are looking to hopefully make it their forever home.”

Ornate ceilings, leadlight windows and decorative detailing hark back to the home’s Art Deco origins.

Dan McStay and fiance Kellie became engaged in 2025.

Ray White Metro North director David Treloar said the house was in a blue-chip pocket of Brisbane close to the CityCat ferry service, parks and schools.

It’s 500m from Oxford St’s dining and cafe precinct and 700m to Hawthorne’s cinemas and boutiques.

Mr Treloar said the property would suit an investor looking to keep on the current tenant or a family who envisioned enhancing or extending the home down the track.

“The location is outstanding, you could not overcapitalise in that position, it lends itself to someone renovating it into whatever they desire to living in it as is,” he said.

“It has an oversized backyard with the pool and lends itself to a perfect Queensland classic lifestyle, and it has great street appeal.”

He said the state remained popular with Victorians looking to relocate.

The residence is currently rented for $870 a week with a tenancy agreement which extends to January 2027.

The house will be auctioned at 12.30pm on Friday August 14.

Under Queensland legislation, it’s illegal for an agent or seller to prove a price guide for a home going to public auction.

This is to stop underquoting and to prevent agents from using low price estimates in an effort to attract buyers.
