Oracle shares plunged nearly nine percent following a broad tech selloff triggered by hotter than expected September CPI data and surging corporate bond yields. Yields on Oracle corporate debt spiked toward nine percent as credit markets repriced the cost of financing the company massive multi billion dollar artificial intelligence data center buildout.
The fixed income pressure follows Oracle tapping debt markets for a twenty five billion dollar bond issue to support its cloud infrastructure expansion amid total debt obligations reaching one hundred sixty seven billion dollars. Despite the stock steep decline, major Wall Street brokerages including Goldman Sachs continue to maintain buy ratings on Oracle, citing long term backlog growth and enterprise cloud migration demand.
