Delta Air Lines is officially selling basic tickets across its premium cabins, at least on some flights.
The rollout is starting July 8 in first class on select domestic and Latin American routes. Basic tickets in Premium Select and Delta One are also available for sale on select routes starting July 8, but will not begin flying until September.
Premium cabin basic ticket holders will have access to the same onboard experience as other passengers, but will not be entitled to advanced seat selection, priority check-in or lounge access, unless they have that access through a credit card or frequent flyer status.
“This expansion gives customers more ways to choose the Delta experience that best fits their trip, and a new way to access our premium tier products,” Joe Esposito, Delta’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement. “No matter the fare, every customer can expect the thoughtful service, comfort and care that continues to set Delta apart.”
Customers on basic tickets in premium cabins, including Basic Business tickets in the Delta One cabin, will earn fewer miles than those on higher-tier fares and will also have a lower checked baggage allowance than higher-paying passengers.
Delta did not immediately clarify which routes are getting these basic tickets first.
