Those who get Supplemental Security Income checks will get a pair of checks during October, with the first arriving on Oct. 1.
SSI payments are typically scheduled for the first day of the month. But payments go out early when the first calendar day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday. Because Oct. 1, 2026, is a Thursday, that payment will arrive on the regular schedule, according to the Social Security Administration calendar.
However, Nov. 1 is a Sunday, so the November check is scheduled to arrive Friday, Oct. 30. A similar schedule happens in December: The January 2027 check will arrive Thursday, Dec. 31, because Jan. 1 is New Year’s Day.
SSI Payment Schedule for the Rest of 2026
Here are the dates for SSI payments for the rest of 2026, according to the SSA calendar:
- Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026 — October 2026 payment
- Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 — November 2026 payment
- Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2026 — December 2026 payment
- Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026 — January 2027 payment
What Is Supplemental Security Income?
Supplemental Security Income is a program administered by the Social Security Administration. It provides benefits for people with limited or no income or resources, people 65 or older, and people who are blind or have a qualifying disability. Children with qualifying disabilities also may be eligible.
About 7.3 million Americans currently receive monthly SSI payments, and about one-third of SSI recipients also receive Social Security benefits, according to the agency. Working adults who earn more than $2,073 monthly typically do not qualify for SSI benefits.
