The Block 2026 Episode 15 recap: Girls given yet another helping hand

There’s trouble brewing in share house HQ tonight, with Jolene and Wyatt both being ruthless.

All teams are under the pump to get their master ensuites finished in a week where the Good Friday public holiday will reduce their working hours. Dan gives them extra time each night for non-power tool work, but most teams are still struggling to get their rooms waterproofed by Tuesday, an essential if they’re going to finish.

Chantel and Wyatt are the only teams coasting, thanks largely to the fact their house came with the superstar tiling team the Cursio brothers. They even have time to pop out for a pedicure (Chantel) and haircut (Wyatt).

Asked for the secret to their success and they credit their supreme management skills and quick decision making, conveniently forgetting they have Melbourne’s and possibly the world’s best waterproofing/tiling team.

Courtney faces the reality that she might be about to lose star landscaper Troy Lovett.

Dan is taking pity on hard-working Rick and his less hardworking daughter Tayla, awarding Rick the weekly prize for being the hardest grafter on site (an honour which reduces Rick to tears), and giving Tayla yet another gee up for not helping her dad enough.

“You need to get plasterers,” he tells her.

“I tried,” she protests.

“You need to keep trying, for your dad. That’s your biggest goal right now. Right now he’s trying to do all the carpentry and right now he’s way behind everyone.”

When Tayla continues to strike out Dan sends her to Wyatt and Chantel’s house to speak to their plasterer and ask if he’d come to the rescue when he finishes there.

But despite Wyatt the previous day telling Tayla that Chantel would share the plasterer’s number, he takes umbrage at her showing up at his house to speak to the plasterer directly.

“After week two I said I’m not sharing trades. I thought that was known thing. I haven’t even been asked and I’m really upset,” he says, conveniently forgetting his conversation with Tayla the day before “She just came into our house. It’s annoying and disrespectful.”

Scott Cam reads Courtney and Sev the riot act over their budget, again.

Elsewhere, Courtney and Sev are being given yet another lecture about their ballooning budget, and this time it’s from the big gun.

Scott Cam comes to site to tell them they’ve spent $91,678 of their $250,000 budget in just three rooms. After this week’s ensuite, with its expensive heated and tiled shower couch, they’ll be at $110,000.

“You’ll only have $140,000 left for the rest of the house and landscaping. It’s hard to pull back from that but you’ve got to try,” Scott tells them.

So it’s a bad time for their renowned landscaper Troy Lovett to show up on site for a meeting. He quickly gets wind of their money troubles and starts thinking about abandoning ship.

“I’m very expensive,” he tells the girls.

He wants a minimum of $100,000 to landscape their yard.

“At the moment it seems we’re in damage control and we haven’t even put anything on a piece of paper.”

Cue Tayla swooping in to brag about how far under budget she and her dad are, and to suggest they’d be a good port in a storm.

“We might have to go somewhere else,” Troy agrees.

Then it’s back to site, where Courtney and Sev’s waterproofer/tiler is making such a dog’s breakfast of the waterproofing, producers have had to conceal he and his team’s identities.

Courtney and Sev’s waterproofing fails its inspection.

He’s using the wrong materials and doing such a rough job it’s going to have to be ripped out.

Courtney is clearly upset when she gets back to the share house and with Jolene reasoning “that’s not my problem” her towel clad husband steps in to give Courtney a pep talk that apparently lasted until midnight.

“Aww, I just don’t like seeing people upset,” he says.

“That s**t’s got to stop,” Jolene counters. “It’s a competition and I need him to focus on what we’re doing.”

So in the morning when she finds out that unlike herself and Adam, the girls had waterproofed the previous night (without having the information that the waterproofing in question was a disaster), she’s fuming.

“What! So she’s crying that they’re so behind and it was only them and House 2 that are waterproofed? I just don’t like people playing games.”

Adam and Courtney have a late night pep talk.

The waterproofing debacle gets so bad that site managers Aidan and Simmo tell the girls to fire their team because their own builder’s licence would be on the line if they continued to deliver shoddy work.

They tell the girls they will arrange for the Cursio brothers to come and fix the problem, a fact which Courtney and Sev know will earn them the wrath of the other contestants, particularly Chantel and Wyatt.

“This is the second time the Cursios have had to help out in our bathroom and I just feel tension coming my way,” Courtney notes.

Given the girls’ struggles to manage their trades, and the perception from other teams that they get extra help, it’s probably for the best that she hasn’t told the other contestants she’s a building project manager.

“I’m feeling embarrassed,” she admits.

Dan goes to tell Chantel and Wyatt that he’s requisitioning their tilers to make sure they know that it’s not Courtney and Sev’s doing, but they’re unmollified.

“They tell us they were taking our tilers, after we said no. It’s a joke,” Wyatt rages.

To be fair, his voluntary lending of the Cursios in main bathroom week saw the girls score a win, so his anger is somewhat understandable.
