David Hasselhoff once famously told a court he was down to his last $US4000 ($A5,700).
But a look inside the Baywatch legend’s property empire tells a very different story.
Once worth $US100 million ($A150 million), the actor is now reportedly worth $10 million ($A15 million).
The 73-year-old star, whose financial journey has been a wild mix of “broke” claims and massive TV royalties, has spent decades building a global real estate collection that would make even Mitch Buchannon blush.

Inside the Real Estate Collection
The Hoff’s property moves prove that even when he was “struggling,” he was living large.
The Encino ‘Grotto’
In 1996, he paid $US1.9 million ($A2.7 million) for a sprawling estate in Encino, California. The compound features a library, a private pub room, and a gymnasium.
He eventually sold the longtime family home in 2013 for $US3.5 million ($A4.9 million).
The Calabasas ‘Mini-Mansion’
The same year he sold Encino, he snapped up a $US1.9 million ($A2.7 million) residence in Calabasas.
This five-bedroom estate featured a sunken living room and a family room with a wet bar.
Outside, the 1.5-acre grounds boasted a lagoon-style pool with a waterfall and a basketball court.

The ‘Impossible’ Listing
In 2020, Hasselhoff teamed up with his daughter Taylor to sell the Calabasas home for $US3.6 million ($A5.1 million) as part of the reality show Listing Impossible.
The series followed real estate agents trying to offload highly customised, hard-to-sell homes.
They were not successful in selling the property and this remains David’s primary home.
The Knight Rider star reportedly owns a $US1.3 million ($A1.8 million) home in Monrovia. The abode has three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The Bali Paradise
In 2017, Hasselhoff expanded his portfolio internationally, purchasing a beachfront property on the island of Gili Meno, Indonesia.
The seaside pad is part of a resort development on the paradise island, which is located off the east coast of Bali.
The facilities include a sleek bar area, sunbathing terrace, infinity pool with stunning sea view and direct access to one of the island’s beaches.
“I love Gili Meno as there are no cars on the island, it is like going back in time,” Hasselhoff said of his investment at the time.
“The best thing about the island is that you can eat out so well, such as fresh lobster, and it costs next to nothing.”

The $150m Royalties
When Baywatch was axed after just one season in 1990, Hasselhoff and his partners bought the rights back for a pittance.
They took it into syndication and created the most-watched show on the planet.
As executive producer, the move netted him an estimated $US100 million ($A150 million) over 11 years.
At his peak, he was pocketing $US60,000 ($A85,000) per episode and a staggering $US4 million ($A5.7 million) a year in residuals.

The ‘Broke’ claim
Despite his TV riches, Hasselhoff alleged he had less than $US4000 ($A5,700) in liquid assets during a bitter spousal support battle with ex-wife Pamela Bach.
According to TMZ in 2016, he was making $US112,000 ($A160,000) per month and had $US1.79 million ($A2.55 million) in properties, savings, cars, art, and jewellery.
His ex-wife claimed that Hasselhoff was lying about the amount of money he was worth, saying it was closer to $US120 million ($A171 million) with expenses of $US66,000 ($A94,000) a month.
The actor and Bach reached an agreement to lower his original $US21,000 ($A30,000) monthly alimony to $US10,000 ($A15,000) in late 2016, The Sun reports.

In 2017, Hasselhoff successfully had the monthly payments reduced to $US5,000 ($A7,500) per month, citing his reduced income and Bach’s failure to get a job.
The TV star told Entertainment Tonight at the time he never imagined running out of money.
“I was laughing about all these people who made money and lost it, and I was saying, ‘How could that happen to them?’” Hasselhoff told the outlet in 2016.
“All of a sudden, I woke up one morning and said, ‘Oh, I realise now!’”
At the time, Hasselhoff claimed he had paid over $US2.5 million ($A3.5 million) to Bach since their divorce.
He paid the halved amount from December 2017 until November 30, 2020, according to TMZ.
After Bach and Hasselhoff divorced in 2016, he went on to marry Hayley Roberts in 2018.
In March 2025, Bach died by suicide at 62 in her Hollywood Hills home.
