I was in the office most of the day busy with a bunch of stuff including moving stuff around because we are going to change our seating arrangement.
Some of my colleagues tell me my area is going to be an interesting fight. I never knew Sengkang GRC as an interesting battleground during the general elections. There were always opposition but they stand against former DPM Teo Chee Hean and usually end up as cannon fodder.
Last election was surprising for me because I didn’t know how much my neighbors don’t like the PAP. I have only heard joyous shouts through the estate for three reasons:
- When Manchester United scores a goal.
- When Liverpool scores a goal.
- When Workers Party won in Sengkang in 2020.
They don’t like the PAP so much that when I word my reflective post after the election, the readers were particularly not happy because I sound like a PAP supporter!
I tell all the people how I feel about staying in an opposition ward. There is kind of no difference for me personally. Things kind of hum along well under Teo Ser Luck. things also hum along pretty well under He Ting Ru.
I never saw any of my PAP MPs. I never saw any of my Workers Party MP.
I take it that this is not the MP problem but my problem.
Speaking of which, my friend STE one day message us: “Kyith! Cheap Breakfast Near Your Place!”
My friend STE and I are far neighbors of sought and we got to know of this breakfast set that is limited to a few coffeeshops in Sengkang.
Fxxk! The only public place I can find this kind of price is at the Kopitiam in Singapore General Hospital. You think this kind of deals will entice only Cheapskates like Kyith to vote properly. This kind of stuff will not work on STE with his six-figure dividend income.
Think again. Perhaps this is the reason STE has a six-figure income lol.
Our background checks tell us it is really a few blocks of flats. These flats must be really special. We basically tell all our cheapskate (or cheapskate friends who masquerade as frugal people) about this deal and see if they will travel all the way from Serangoon and Hougang to eat this. (It is STE and my plan to secretly see who is frugal and who is cheapskate.)
This thing ends 31st March 2025 so it is OVER already. Don’t keep asking around where are these coffeeshops. I made a mistake due to the fine print. This duration last till 31st March 2026.
But man… you know what this reminds me of… when we see banks enticing auntie and uncle to invest in higher commission stuff by throwing in free Oven.
I wonder if this would work on people other than old men like STE and myself. The tone of such gestures will be different if you have build good relationships on the ground. It will enhance your reputation.
But I fear this may turn off those skeptical voters who were on the fence. Like finance products that are considering, your consideration of who you should vote should not consider gestures like this.
