One of the things I often hear from people around me is that they cannot find affordable financial advice in Singapore.
Most financial advisors here are either tied to insurance companies or banks, which means they earn a commission from whatever they sell you. The advice you get may not always be in your best interest. On the other hand, fee-based independent advisors do exist, but their fees can run into hundreds of dollars, which may not make sense for most of us.
So it is not easy to get good and affordable financial advice in Singapore. This is especially difficult for lower who just cannot afford it or middle-income earners like me who doesn’t have enough net worth to justify paying thousands a year for a financial planner.
